Visitor address and travel

Use Kölnstraße 487, 53117 Bonn as the verified visitor address. A documented public-transport route from the main station takes line 61 to An der Josefshöhe, followed by bus 601 to Nordfriedhof. Accessible parking is identified at the rear of the grounds. The map marker represents a point inside the cemetery and should not be mistaken for a gate or vehicle entrance.

A landscape cemetery developed over time

The site was laid out from 1884 to a design by municipal architect Ludwig von Noel. Its concept combined a park cemetery with the character of a landscape garden. Extensions followed in 1900, 1946 and 1979. Covering 22 hectares, Nordfriedhof is described by the city as Bonn’s largest cemetery. Later additions include an anonymous urn field established in 1988, a Muslim burial field dating from 1990 and the Sterntalerfeld created in 2003.

Preparing a visit

Published access times distinguish the warmer and colder parts of the year, with a separate schedule for All Saints, All Souls and Totensonntag. Check the municipal operator’s short-notice notices before a time-critical visit. When locating a grave, the deceased person’s name plus any section, plot, row and grave number will make orientation easier.
